Population Spotting Using Big Data: Validating the Human Performance Concept of Operations Analytic Vision

Abstract

This report describes the research into a methodology for determining patient segments consistent with the Air Force Surgeon Generals vision for patient care. Patients health history focuses on the conditions and frequency of visits required to meet their healthcare needs. The methodology consists of a two-part process where patients are first clustered based on the likeness to other patients. Then clusters are aggregated based on similarity and constrained by the availability of providers and resources. The result is patient segments, which can be better serviced to meet healthcare needs.
