10th Conference on Bayesian Nonparametrics

Abstract

The 10th conference on Bayesian nonparametrics was held in North Carolina State University Campus, Raleigh, NC, June 22-26, 2015.About 180 participants all over the world attended the conference. There were about 30 plenary and invited talks, over 50 contributed talks and about 30 poster presenters. The meeting allowed researchers working in theory, methods and applications of Bayesian nonparametric statistics to exchange ideas. Young researchers particularly benefited from the meeting by presenting their work in presence of senior researchers. Many of the invited and contributed speakers and almost all poster presenters were young participants. A significant number of female researchers participated in the conference. The findings from the conference is widely disseminated. The conference web site displays slides of the talks presented in the conference for free public viewing whenever the authors gave permissions to do so. Moreover a special volume on Bayesian nonparametrics is being published by the Electronic Journal of Statistics consisting of about 20 papers read at the conference. The support from ARO allowed the organizers fund local hospitality for invited speakers and several young researchers. By providing local hospitality, the organizers were able to significantly reduce the financial burden on the participants for attending the conference and hence increased participation.
