Multiband Radio Frequency Interconnect (MRFI) Technology For Next Generation Mobile/Airborne Computing Systems

Abstract

The aims of this two-phase research program were to analyze, model and realize a multiband radio frequencyinterconnect technology (MRFI) to enable high scalability and re-configurability for inter-CPU/Memorycommunications with an increased number of communication channels in the frequency-domain and reduced number ofphysical pads/wires to accomplish higher effective bandwidth, superior energy efficiency (in terms of energy/bit) anddecreased size/area of both silicon (on-chip) and PCB (off-chip) for future mobile and airborne computing systems.
