Sustainment and Advancement of Amputee Care

Abstract

The Defense Health Board (DHB) is pleased to submit its report on the Sustainment and Advancement of Amputee Care (attached). On June 20, 2013, the Acting Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness requested that the DHB develop recommendations for the sustainment of the remarkable advancements made in amputee care during the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan and recommend strategies for continuing to advance the field to maintain readiness for future conflicts. The DHB tasked its Health Care Delivery Subcommittee with conducting a review of the full spectrum of amputee care and developing a strategy for the sustainment and advancement of amputee care skills and technology for the Boards consideration.
