Addition of Tranexamic Acid to the Tactical Combat Casualty Care Guidelines 2011-06

Abstract

Traumatic hemorrhage is the leading cause of preventable death on the battlefield. A comprehensive review of the literature (as provided in this report) found that the antifibrinolytic tranexamic acid (TXA) has proven to decrease all cause mortality following major trauma.
