AUTOMATING THREE DIMENSIONAL (3D) MODEL CREATION OF CIRCUIT CARD ASSEMBLIES

Abstract

This document describes a method to export data from a printed wiring board computer-aided design (CAD) application and then import that data to a mechanical CAD application for solid modeling. The resulting models allow for additional error checking prior to fabrication as well as the data needed to make high quality technical drawings. The method described in this document is specific to the CAD software used but could be adapted to other software applications.
