Effect of Progressively Larger Lateral Column Lengthening Calcaneal Osteotomy on Radiographic Measurements of Foot Alignment

Abstract

Lateral column lengthening is a common procedure for correcting Type IIB flat feet and has been shown to be clinically successful. The specific aims of this study were to establish a reliable Type IIB flat foot model, evaluate the effect of progressive lengthening on common radiographic measurements using simulated X-ray images from weight bearing computer tomography scans, and determine if overcorrection is possible using common lengths of distraction.
