lmmunohistochemical and Molecular Characterization of Extranodal Marginal Zone B-Cell Lymphoma in Salivary Glands

Abstract

Extranodal marginal zone B-cell lymphoma (EMZBCL) is a rare, low-grade, lymphoproliferative neoplasm arising from mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue acquired from chronic antigenic stimulation. It has histomorphologic similarities with benign lesions such as lymphoepithelial sialadenitis (LESA) but has the risk of transforming into a high-grade lymphoma. This study served as a control to validate another study evaluating previously diagnosed benign LESA lesions for a diagnosis of EMZBCL using current criteria.
