Air Abrasive Disinfection of Implant Surfaces in a Simulated Model of Peri-Implantitis

Abstract

Introduction: Dental implant technology has evolved into a predictable treatment option for the restoration of edentulous sites. However, peri-implantitis is an emerging complication leading to increased morbidity or mortality of osseointegrated implants. The prevalence of peri-implant diseases has been reported to range from 12% to 80% of patients. Treatment of peri-implantitis requires thorough debridement and decontamination of the implant surface
