A Randomized Trial to Measure the Efficacy of Applying Task Oriented Role Assignment to Improve Neonatal Resuscitation

Abstract

Despite receiving Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) training, providers still fail to comply with NRP guidelines during neonatal resuscitation. In an effort to address performance gaps we devised a teaching paradigm, called 'Task-Oriented Role Assignment', in which we have delegated a specific set of tasks to be performed within the traditional role assignments used during NRP. We hypothesize this method will improve communication and task delegation, thereby improving NRP performance.
