A Civilian/Military Trauma Institute: National Trauma Coordinating Center

Abstract

The purpose of this grant was to support a national coordinating center for trauma research funding. The infrastructure/call for proposals and review process established was streamlined and efficient leading to the selection of research projects based on a solid scientific, peer review of submitted research proposals. Over the last six years, four trauma research studies have been completed across nine academic trauma centers enrolling a total of 3,817 trauma patients as study participants. In total, this award resulted in fifteen scholarly articles and twenty-five presentations at local, state and national trauma association/professional meetings and advanced scientific knowledge and best practice regarding the care of trauma patients in military and civilian settings.
