Finite Element Modeling of Scattering from Underwater Proud and Buried Military Munitions

Abstract

The objective of this work has been to develop high fidelity acoustic scattering models that canquickly compute the acoustic color templates (backscattered target strength as a function of frequencyand aspect angle) for UXO targets. These models are used to design experiments, interpretcollected data and particularly identify features that can be used in classification.
