SIGAR Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction

Abstract

This report summarizes SIGAR's oversight work and updates developments in four major sectors of Afghanistan's reconstruction effort from January 1, 2017, to March 31, 2017. It also includes an essay on reprioritizing Afghanistan reconstruction as the new Administration reviews its Afghan policy. During this reporting period, SIGAR issued 16 audits, inspections, special projects, and other products assessing U.S. efforts to build the Afghan security forces, improve governance, facilitate economic and social development, and combat the sale and production of narcotics.
