Medical Device Plug-and-Play Interoperability Standards and Technology Leadership

Abstract

This award enabled the MGH Medical Device Plug-and-Play (MD PnP) Interoperability Program to deliver solutions to enable medical device manufacturers, users, and the regulatory community to improve patient safety and healthcare efficiency through interoperable medical technologies. We played aleadership role on interoperability safety standards (AAMI, AAMI/UL Joint Committee 2800), successfully shepherding the ICE standard through its transition from ASTM to AAMI. We obtained further input on the ICE Data Logger (black box recorder) draft standard and submitted it to AAMI as a New Work Item Proposal, which was accepted.
