Remodeling Air Force Cyber Command and Control

Abstract

Air Force CyberWorx offers facilitated design thinking sessions that bring stakeholders, industry and academic experts together to develop solutions to hard problems. These sessions are tailored to best meet AF needs. This report documents a semester-long design sprint that helps define and refine the command and control relationships affecting today's communications squadrons as they transition to become Cyber Squadrons. Specifically, Cyber Squadrons will require clear operational reporting lines to the Air Force core missions they support as well as a strong support/liaison relationships with 24th Air Force through "cyber" lines. Consider how the Air Force cyber forces fit into the Joint C2 structure and how Air Force Cyber Squadrons interface with weapons system program offices as they work to actively defend cyber key terrain for core missions.
