Peritransplant Treg-Based Immunomodulation to Improve VCA Outcomes

Abstract

We have undertaken studies of how Treg cells may be used to enhance outcomes in VCA recipients, using murine models of orthotopic limb transplantation. Using this model, we have shown that expansion of Tregs can be used to significantly prolong orthotopic limb allograft survival. In addition, we have shown that Treg infusion can be used to promote orthotopic VCA survival. These data are highly encouraging and are of translational significance. These studies are those proposed for Specific Aim 1, and Specific Aim 2 will be tackled in the coming year.
