Abstract

During the 2016-2017 influenza season (2 October 2016 - 30 September 2017), results were finalized for 5,555 specimens from 84 locations. There were 1,833 specimens positive for influenza (29 A(H1N1)pdm09, 1,352 A(H3N2), one influenza A/not subtyped, 443 B, four dual influenza coinfections, and four influenza coinfections with other respiratory pathogens). These results and other respiratory pathogens that were identified can be found in Table 2 on pages 4 and 5. During the 2016-2017 influenza season, influenza A(H3N2) was the predominant strain. Influenza activity peaked at Weeks 7 and 8 and the influenza percent positive for the season was 33 percent. This is the cumulative report for specimens tested at USAFSAM during the 2016-2017 influenza season.
