Inter-Laboratory Combat Helmet Blunt Impact Test Method Comparison

Abstract

Blunt impact testing of helmets was performed and statistical analysis was completed in order to verify inter-laboratory consistency. Two laboratories were previously validated for blunt impact testing of Army combat helmets: the U.S. Aberdeen Test Center (ATC) and NTS Chesapeake Testing Services (CTS). A third organization, the Natick Solder Research, Development and Engineering Center (NSRDEC) was evaluated and compared to ensure that testing conducted there would be consistent with the other two laboratories.
