Novel MC/BZY Proton Conductor: Materials Development, Device Evaluation, and Theoretical Exploration using CI and DFT Methods

Abstract

Major Goals: This project has the goals listed below.1) Synthesis of the MC/BZY composite as proton conductors for LT-SOFCs.2) Characterization and electrochemical evaluation of MC/BZY.3) Proton conduction in molten carbonate: mechanism and kinetics.4) Proton migration at the MC/BZY interface: enhanced conduction mode.5) Other fundamental physical and chemical properties of molten carbonate based composites.6) Enhancing the research capacity at Benedict College through the establishment of a research center foradvanced materials.7) Training minority sudents in the field of STEM.8) Serving the local African American community including local middle and high schools.
