Aerial Refueling Equipment: Boom-Receptacle System and lnterface Requirement Recommendations

Abstract

The purpose of this ARSAG document is to provide the aerial refueling (AR) systems recommended requirements and to standardize the interfaces required to engage in boom-receptacle refueling operations with a centerline boom, to facilitate AR between receiver aircraft of cooperating forces. This ARSAG document provides recommended additions and changes to update ARSAG document No. 02-88-12. This document1s revisions include the following requirements: new tanker aircraft nozzle ball joint configuration; boom control system and flying qualities; pressure (stiff boom) refueling; signal amplifier; tanker and boom external lights and visual aids; static discharge; and electromagnetic environmental effects. This document also includes new receiver aircraft recommended requirements for AR receptacle location, receiver aircraft external lighting, signal sequencing, static discharge, and electromagnetic environmental effects. The recommended requirements stated in the annexes were revised. This ARSAG document also provides for recommended requirement changes and additions to NATO document ATP 3.3.4.5 (STANAG 7191) dated 13 June 2013.
