Dominating Duffer's Domain: Lessons for the U.S. Marine corps Information Operations Practitioner

Abstract

This is the account of fictitious narrator Captain I. N. Hindsight as he dreams of planning and integrating information operations (IO) in support of a mission in the notional country of Centralia. It intentionally mirrors the narrative style of the classic The Defence of Duffers Drift and documents Captain Hindsight's efforts, and the things that go wrong, over the iterative course of six dreams. Hindsight offers the lessons he learns from these failures and shows how he incorporates the lessons from each consecutive dream before failing again. By the end of the sixth dream, Hindsight succeeds because he has learned 26 hard-won lessons that readers may find useful for the future conduct and planning of IO.
