Sleep Homeostasis and Synaptic Plasticity

Abstract

The molecular basis of sleep homeostasis remains one of the great mysteries of science with implications for health,performance, and disease. Here we combined genetics with circuit specific knockdown of genes implicated in sleep homeostasis. To date the studies do not yet reveal the circuit or genetic basis of sleep homeostasis and suggest a more complex process than previously thought.
