Human Interaction and Behavioral Enhancement

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to identify and assess methods and techniques to understand, interact, and influence human behavior. Because he Army increasingly conducts operations in urban areas in which the perception and behavior of non-combatants significantly affects the probability of Army mission success, adversaries are taking advantage of social networking and other information technology means to influence local populations in countering or hindering Army operations. The study team recommended the Army assign an executive agency and develop proponency for social media operations, to include monitoring and leveraging social media research and development.
