The Weather Running Estimate - Nowcast Realtime (WREN_RT) System, Version 1.03

Abstract

The Weather Running Estimate-Nowcast Realtime System (WREN_RT) is a scripted system that runs the Advanced Research version of the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF-ARW) model. It performs all the data gathering and processing to prepare the input data for Real and WRF itself as well as running Real and WRF. WREN_RT is designed to allow both beginner and advanced users to execute WRF more efficiently. WREN_RT retrieves and processes coarse-grid model data to provide boundary and initial conditions along with downloading and using alternative sea surface temperature and snow databases. Additionally, WREN_RT downloads, quality controls, and applies observations to improve the initial conditions via an objective analysis and observation nudging.
