(YIP) Studies of Complex Systems in Intense, Ultrafast Mid-Infrared Laser Fields

Abstract

This project investigated the behavior of complex matter (molecules and solid state) with strong, ultrafast laser fields operating at midinfrared wavelengths. Areas of research addressed: ionization and fragmentation of hydrocarbons with vibrationally resonant pulses at/near the C-H stretch mode frequencies, high harmonic generation is solids, generation of strong, ultrafast midinfrared pulses with orbital angular momentum, femtosecond laser damage in semiconductors, attosecond electron interferometry.
