Patterns and Prognosis of Commotio Retinae in Orbital Wall Fractures

Abstract

Orbital wall fractures are a significant cause of ocular injury in trauma and are associated with a spectrum of posterior segment pathology. Prior studies have noted commotio to be one of the most common associated injuries in orbital wall fractures, ranging from 4.3 36.8 percent [1-3]. This study aims to characterize patterns and prognosis of patients with acute retinal pathology following orbital wall fractures specifically focusing on commotio retinae.
