Development of Common Image Generator Interface (CIGI) V4.0 Compliancy Testing Tools

Abstract

Science and Technology Organization (STO) Task Group Modelling and Simulation Group (MSG)-118 CIGI Compliancy Tools started in October 2012 to investigate the approach and development of a method for ensuring compliance of Image Generators (IG) against the CIGI V4.0 standard SISO-STD-013-2014. As much of CIGI is optional testing compliance presented some interesting design challenges. The task group worked for three years working from the baseline of tools provided by the United Kingdom (UK) Ministry Of Defence (MOD) under the Synthetic-natural-environments Through life cost management And Common Interfaces (STACI) research project to establish a process for defining tests and implementations of some of the identified tests. Given significant resource issues the team managed to derive a large number of use cases and implement many tests to support compliance testing. The output of the task group is not limited to this report but is also comprised of the test tools and content that is freely available on the opensource repository SourceForge. The Simulation Interoperability Standards Organisation (SISO) CIGI Product Support Group (PSG) has agreed to take responsibility for the administration and maintenance of the CIGI compliance tools and content on SourceForge.
