Stretching Toward the Near Infrared in Small Molecule Photovoltaics

Abstract

The PI was successful in the proposed research objectives for this three year grant. The PI was able to generate a family of molecules that, when used in organic photovoltaic (OPV) cells, provide sensitivity into the near infrared spectrum. The PI accomplished the basic characterizations of all desired targets as well as the basic characterizations of D-Q-A donor TBTh-2CN and Q-Q-A donor DBTh-2CN. The PI briefed at AFOSR's Organic Chemistry Program Review. The PI has 2 peer reviewed journal articles as a direct result of the grant.
