Aerial Refueling Probe/Drogue System

Abstract

The ARSAG Aerial Refueling Probe / Drogue Guidance Document provides technical information and supporting data useful for development of probe/drogue aerial refueling (AR) systems on new or existing aircraft. Its focus is on the coupled tanker/receiver aircraft system, tanker AR fuel system, tanker AR drogue system integration, receiver aircraft probe system design/integration, and receiver aircraft fuel system. The document includes guidance and lessons learned that can impact safety and mission success when integrating probe/drogue AR systems onto a tanker or receiver aircraft. The document is applicable to manned and unmanned tankers and receivers, day/night operations, and AR training and to the KC-135 equipped with the Boom-to Drogue Adaptor (BDA) kit. The document may be provided to NATO JAPCC as a supplement to technical information in ATP 3.3.4.6 ( STANAG 3447) and in conjunction with the Joint Services Specification Guides (JSSG).
