Improved Infrastructure at Fisk University in the Area of Crystal Growth, Thin Film Deposition and Crystal Defect Characterization for Infrared Applications

Abstract

We have been able to place our Department among the leaders in the development of infrared materials based on wide bandgap semiconductors and will be striving in the next decades to maintain this leadership and add additional devices of interest to the Air Force. The instrumentation purchased under the proposed grant constitutes a major milestone in achieving this goal. Accomplishments: The instrumentation was purchased and installed and as a result enhanced the research infrastructure of the research group in the Materials Science and Application Laboratory at Fisk University. Training Opportunities: Undergraduate and graduate students were trained and use the equipment in their research.
