Analytical Description of the Volume, Center of Gravity, and Moments of Inertia for Tangent and Secant Ogives

Abstract

This note presents closed-form algebraic equations to describe the inertial properties of both tangent ogives, which conform to the cylindrical shank of the projectile in a flush manner, and secant ogives, which are base-truncated versions of tangent ogives. The properties encompassed by these descriptions include volume (mass), center of gravity, and the various moments of inertia.
