A Leaky Integrator Computational Model of Cognitive Resource Utilization and the Vigilance Decrement

Abstract

Effective human-machine teaming can be significantly impacted by situations that require a human to sustain attention for a prolonged duration, which can cause a significant decline in his or her cognitive performance (i.e., vigilance decrement). This paper presents a model of the vigilance decrement which is framed within a computational model of human cognitive resource utilization.
