2015 Workplace and Equal Opportunity Survey of Reserve Component Members: Overview Report

Abstract

The 2015 Workplace and Equal Opportunity Survey of Reserve Component Members (2015 WEOR) was designed to fulfill the Congressional mandate outlines in Title 10 U.S. Code Section 481 which requires the Department to conduct Joint Service quadrennial assessment of race/ethnic issues. It is the third survey of its kind administered to Reserve component members to fulfill statutory requirements. One of the key features of the survey is the ability to derive estimated past year rates of racial/ethnic harassment/discrimination. Additional survey content includes effectiveness of policies and programs to improve relations among different racial/ethnic groups, effectiveness or reporting processes for complaints, and diversity and inclusion climate. This overview report presents key findings from the 2015 WEOR for the DoD overall, and broken out by race/ethnicity, Service, Reserve program, and paygrade. Where applicable, results from trend analyses with previous WEORs conducted in 2007 and 2011 are presented as well.
