Tolerance Analysis Tools and Techniques
Abstract
Most engineering analyses performed today predict the performance of the product during use. Tolerance analyses, on the other hand, in addition to predicting the compliance to functional assembly criteria, predict how well the assemblies will perform while being built. When done properly such analyses will reduce the production costs of a design before the first chip is cut or first plastic injected into a mold. All too often, though, companies cite that they dont have as much coverage as they would like to have.
