Acquisition of CVD for Synthesis of Explosive Nanosensors

Abstract

We have purchased the EasyTube 101 (registered trademark) CVD system and Raman Spectrometer to synthesize and characterize Zinc Oxide nanowires which will be used in DoD related projects. Through the Apprenticeship Program, we worked with high school students who worked with undergraduate and graduate students to perform synthesis and characterization of ZnO nanowire. We performed several optimizations using different substrates and temperatures for explosive vapor sensor development. The acquired equipment will be highly valuable for DoD research on CCNY campus.
