Nominal Waveforms for Late-Time High-Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP)

Abstract

The report explores the late-time, high-altitude electromagnetic pulse, referred to as HEMP E3, using unclassified yields and X-ray outputs. The report shows how predicted HEMP E3 varies with yield, height of burst, and latitude, and provides electric-field waveforms at fixed and time-varying spatial locations (the latter to illustrate the peak value across the affected spatial domain).
