AFRL S and T Technical Forecasting Summit
Abstract
The University of Florida conducted a Technical Forecasting Summit, bringing together thought leaders from academia and the private sector to help guide the Air Force 2030 Science and Technology Strategy. Led by UF Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, the overall team of participants combined a broad depth of multidisciplinary expertise with considerable experience and knowledge relevant to the air force domains in air, space, and cyber. The summit focused on a diverse set of technical themes, each championed by a team of domain experts and facilitators. Specific topics addressed during the summit were Advanced Modeling, Advanced and Additive Manufacturing, Excited State Materials Performance, Energetics and Fuels, Hypersonics and High-speed Effects, Cyber Systems, Machine Learning, Autonomy and AI, Sensing and Communication, Space systems, and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). Through outreach and networking, the two-day summit engaged nearly 100 participants from across the nation, and culminated in the following technical roadmap and technical forecasting report.
