Abstract

Objectives: To train animal care staff on clinically relevant procedures for species commonly used in the vivarium as mandated by the Animal Welfare Act. Methods: Clinically relevant procedures (medication administration, anesthesia, imaging, and euthanasia) were taught using live animal models. Results: Due to lack of staff turnover, this protocol has not been very active. Only two animals have been used in three years. Conclusion: This protocol will be closed and alternative training methods and avenues will be pursued when needed.
