Open Circuit Voltage Photodetector (VocP) Infrared Imager

Abstract

In this project, the VocP team (Ohio State University and SK Infrared) demonstrated the performance of the Open Circuit Voltage Photodetector (VocP) pixel with two photovoltaic materials. The team has demonstrated the feasibility of implementing a VocP detector by operating a photodetector in an open-circuit voltage configuration and using it to control the gate-source voltage of a field effect transistor (FET). The team developed two experimental platforms for characterizing this approach and also made comparison measurements to a more traditional photodetector configuration. A model of the detector system was developed that accurately predicts the signal and noise performance of a VocP detector and enables further design work.
