Large-Scale Power Grid Simulation Via Equivalent Circuit Formulation

Abstract

Development of an Equivalent Circuit Formulation (ECF) that enables robust power flow analysis and optimization of the power grid. This project covered the theoretical research develop ECF for: AC Power Flow analysis, an optimization algorithm to identify feasibility, and an optimization-based State Estimation (SE). SUGAR (Simulation with Unified Grid Analyses and Renewables), was implemented in both Python and C, to demonstrate solution of the aforementioned analyses effectively. The software has been applied to numerous real-world, large-scale examples.
