Detecting Malign or Subversive Information Efforts over Social Media: Scalable Analytics for Early Warning

Abstract

This publication explores the value of scalable analytic means to detect malign or subversive information efforts, lays out methods and workflows for detection of these efforts, and details a proof-of-concept study addressing malign information efforts detected around the 2018 Fdration Internationale de Football Association(FIFA) World Cup. Overall, our results suggest that organizations should consider adopting this or a similar social media analysis method to provide early warning to planners by detecting shaping actions over social media.
