Review of the Fiscal Year 2017 Defense Environmental International Cooperation Program

Abstract

The Defense Environmental International Cooperation (DEIC) program is a tool for the Office of the Secretary of Defense and the geographicCombatant Commands (CCMDs) to use as part of their security cooperation engagement activities with other nations. The projects DEIC support focus on defense-related environmental themes, with special priority on projects that promote mission sustainment, innovative approaches to environment, safety and occupational health (ESOH) risk management, and/or building capacity for strategic partnerships. The author reviewed the execution of the Fiscal Year 2017 (FY17) DEIC program, assessed the programs performance for that year, and provided metrics to evaluate the program.
