Waveform Diversity and Frequency Sharing Techniques for Cognitive Radar Systems

Abstract

Spectrum sensing and spectrum sharing are the two main functions that allow a cognitive radar to measure, sense, learn, and be aware of the parameters related to the radio channel characteristics. This research derives an algorithm for estimating the channel parameters that characterize the behavior of the primary users and a spectrum sharing method that exploits these estimates to minimize the interference between the radar and the primary user. The proposed method optimizes the performance of the radar and, at the same time, limits the interference received by the other users.
