Identity Crisis: The Military's Evolving Role in the 21st Century Conflict

Abstract

The breakdown is three different panels each discussing a specific topical area and how each has produced challenges and opportunities to theUnited States: ( 1) Our first panel will address evolving threats in nuclear, cyber and space arenas. (2) Our second panel will dive into the role ofintelligence sharing in combatting dynamic threats, and rebalancing the ops tempo of all three force components (Active, Guard, and Reserve).(3) Our third panel will seek to look at the environment affecting the warfighter, and how it affects force readiness; these topics will include gender roles in combat positions, veteran post- combat trauma mental care and the retention crisis.
