Human Cell Line Activation Test of the Novel Energetic N,N'- bis(4 nitro 1,2,5 oxadiazol 3 yl)-methanediamine (MBANF)

Abstract

The energetic and toxicological properties of n,n'-bis(4-nitro-1,2,5-oxadiazol-3-yl)-methanediamine (MBANF) are under assessment as replacements for energetics in current use, such as such as hexahydro-1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazine (RD and trinitrotoluene (TNT). This study evaluated the skin sensitization hazard of MBANF through the h-CLAT, an in vitro approach to assess activation of dendritic cells. Data from the h-CLAT were also utilized to predict a Hazard Category (UNECE2015) for acute oral toxicity. Data from this study are used to assist in making environment and health-based decisions regarding the design and selection of formulas and materials for development of new munition compounds.
