Identifying and Understanding Superior Multiple-Target Visual Search Abilities

Abstract

The primary objective of this ARO-funded project was to explore a particularly troublesome issue for visual searchmultiple-target visual searches (where more than one target can possibly be present at the same time). Multiple-target searches are common in many settings (e.g., baggage screening, military searches), and they are especially error prone. To better understand the nature of multiple-target search to inform both academic theory and real-world performance, we enacting a multifaceted experimental approach.
