Workshop on Adaptive Defense in the Cyber-Security Domain

Abstract

Cyber systems are ubiquitous in todays world and have immensely increased work efficiency of large organizations. However, cyber systems are vulnerable to attacks on multiple dimensions. Attackers no longer consist of individuals or small groups, but have now expanded to include active engagement by state and other highly organized actors with significant resources, who employ increasingly sophisticated military and intelligence techniques in their approaches and strategies. The goal of this workshop is to bring together leading researchers from cyber and physical security, AI researchers as well as social scientists, who are focused on security against adaptive and intelligent adversaries, as well as practitioners and other interested researchers. We expect such an interdisciplinary gathering to improve ourunderstanding of the adaptive nature of cyber and cyber-physical attacks, as well as shed light on key challenges and interdisciplinaryresearch opportunities in this area, with the ultimate aim of improving cyber defense. The 2-day workshop will be held Feb 3-4, in Los Angeles, at the University of Southern California.
