Pros And Cons Of Exporting Alaskan North Slope Oil

Abstract

This report, which is being provided pursuant to your request, focuses on the key perceived advantages and disadvantages of exporting Alaskan North Slope oil as presented by the proponents and opponents of such exports. The General Accounting Office has taken no position on the basic issue of whether Alaskan oil should be exported or whether the Congress should extend or amend the provisions of the Export Administration Act of 1979 which restricts the export of Alaskan oil.
