Tactical Aircraft: F-15 Replacement Issues

Abstract

Mr. Chairman and Members of the Subcommittee: I am pleased to be here today to discuss our report concerning the Department of Defense's (DOD's) planned replacement of F-15air superiority aircraft with F-229. My statement discusses (to the extent possible in an unclassified hearing) the threat the U.S. air superiority fighter must meet between now and 2015, the capabilities of the F-15 to meet the threat, longevity of F-15s,and the utility of the F-22 for multiple services and multiple roles.
