Determining Military Modernization Process in Malawi Defence Force

Abstract

Change in the military is necessary for the organization to compete, grow, and improve while operating. For that reason, military organizations need a change process that is capable of orchestrating effective and efficient changes without bringing chaos into the organization. This research investigates a suitable qualitative military modernization process model for the Malawi Defence Force (MDF) to respond to future threats. The study is an applied professional research case study that proposes a model based on Capability Based Planning (CBP). This model provides a guide to understanding MDF socio-political situations that impact strategic military policies and posture. It focuses on transformative worldview inquiry to examine trends and variables that provide political and social action to advance change.
